In Rainbows

A few days ago, I posted a lament on the lack of good, quality, well-made, Christian music and the response has been fantastic. In addition to getting tons of recommendations for new bands to check out, I was also contacted by the manager for a Christian band called “Lovelite”. The band is recording its first studio LP and they are very excited. Ricky Stewart(the manager) emailed me the band’s demo EP and I will be posting a more in-depth review very soon. In the meantime, check out the band site at http://www.lovelitemusic.com; you can read bio’s and listen to samples of their music. This is a “Christian” band in that they write songs which are meant to praise God, lift up believers, and reach out to non-Christians. But, they don’t fall into the typical trap of the “Christian Music” genre. They are, in fact, very talented musicians. They are very tight, musically speaking. Great melody and harmony. Give em a listen, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

However, the main purpose for this post is to hype the new Radiohead album, “In Rainbows”. I have never been a Radiohead fan… that is to say, I don’t know that I have ever been exposed to Radiohead before. I know very little about the band, but I can say without hesitation, “I’m hooked.” I have been listening to this album ALL DAY due to the “digital” release. The English rock band has posted a .zip file on the album website, appropriately inrainbows.com , which allows fans to download DRM-FREE MP3 FILES of the albums tracks for the reasonable price of, whatever you feel like giving!

edit: at this time (5pm PDT, on 10 October 2007) the website has been locked down and you can no longer access it without a login name and password

As a first-timer with Radiohead, I have nothing to compare it to, but this music is AWESOME.  You can be sure I will be going back and checking out the band’s earlier work.  I imagine this CD will be in my player (who am I kidding, the mp3’s will be on my PSP) for quite a while.

Check back for more on Lovelite, soon!
