Calling all MK’s!

I am doing a research paper for my missiology class on how the church supports missionary kids who are transitioning back to US for High School or college. If you are a missionary kid or know a missionary kid who might want to participate in my research. Please respond in the comments of this post. Also, if your church does work with missionary kids, respond in the comments, I want to dialog with you.

Thanks, good readers!

SDG,
Matty

  1. Our family has “sponsored” MKs in the past. Are you speaking of MKs only overseas or those whom travle in the US as well?

I am most interested in kids who grow up outside of the US and how they are re-acclimatized to US society and culture.

    Grace and Peace,

  3. Hi there,

If you’re interested, you might want to post about your study at mkPLANET.com – check it out. πŸ™‚

  4. My dad was only part-time, so I don’t think I count (I only lived in Mexico for one year, and I was already in my teens). I know a few MKs from Africa, my cousin’s wife was born in Zaire. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get you in touch with them, though.

  5. Dear Matty,
My parents are missionaries in Zambia. I have lived there for over 10 years and just recently (2 weeks ago) moved to London. I know it isn’t the US, but I plan to go study there after a year in London. Our mission organization is American. I would be happy to help you in anyway.

  6. Did you have an age-range for your research paper (I’m almost 40)? If that’s not an issue, I’d be glad to share…

  7. Oops – missed the part about “are transitioning”. πŸ™‚ However, I think I can get you in touch with someone who is providing a “re-entry” program for MK’s returning to the States.

  8. Hi, I’m a 25 year old MK from Lisbon, Portugal now living in St. Louis, Missouri. I re-entered the US twice, once for a furlough year for my sophmore year of highschool, and then again after I graduated highschool. I’s be glad to discuss my experience with you if you are interested.
